About this deal

Emily Gravett’s engaging woodland creatures will appeal to fans of such classics as The Animals of Farthing Wood and The Wind in the Willows and the rhythmic, rhyming text is perfect for reading aloud.

A rhyming text and witty illustrations introduce us to badger, Pete, whose penchant for keeping the forest and his various animal friends spick and span appears, to begin with, largely laudable. Pete hoovering up the catalogue reference on the final page of Tidy suggests that he hasn’t reformed entirely and is always going to be tempted to interfere with things that should be left alone. Tidy tackles the theme of caring for the environment from the unusual viewpoint of being overzealous and taking tidying too far.I have even talked the head into a little revamp of the library so that we can display them properly!

Some also introduce children to different weather patterns, and other amazing features of planet Earth. Spring is a great time to start exploring the world around you - whether that's learning more about animals, going for a picnic or simply visiting your local park. These cookies help provide information on metrics the number of visitors, bounce rate, traffic source, etc. It’s a fantastic independent book seller that will actually be responsive and select appropriate books for you. From the creator of Meerkat Mail and Dogs, comes a very funny rhyming woodland story about the perils of being too tidy. Young children will enjoy the pictures, approachable characterisation and considerate message of ‘Tidy’. Deforestation, development of towns, endangered animals and climate change are a few of the themes this book introduces for discussion or exploration. However, the wicked looking stainless steel secateurs with which he is cutting off flowers whose colours ‘didn’t quite match’, should warn us that this is an animal whose scouring and scrubbing may lead to a drastic minimalist solution to nature’s inherent untidiness.

Emily Gravett's place in the world of children's books is already established but in Tidy she excels herself and will delight new audiences. There was just the right amount of choice to suit everyone without being overwhelming and I received comments from parents and staff about the quality of books offered compared to previous sales which have always been based around current crazes and well known celebrity authors. Pete is not the reliable source of wisdom and good sense that have been attributed to badgers in other stories. Daily Mail This beautiful book, illustrated in warm tones, is full of expressive, characterful animals and tells a charming story. Emily Gravett's engaging woodland creatures will appeal to fans of such classics as The Animals of Farthing Wood and The Wind in the Willows and the rhythmic, rhyming text is perfect for reading aloud.I haven't charted out my visits for the summer term, but I'm sure there are several in the south) and thanks so much for being so fantastic! Thereafter, as Pete’s Tidy begins with just one leaf, we see how this tiny step affects something else.

Bronnie is so lovely with the boys and we also felt that having a man enthusing about the books set a great example.

As earth is reclaimed by nature, the message of our responsibility to all living things is reinforced. Sunny lives on an arid plain with his extensive and loving meerkat family; they work together, play together and together do their best to stay away from jackals! Your words, like your reviews, bring books to life and give them a voice before the front cover is even turned. We see the result in a shocking double page spread: a mountain of black bin bags dwarves the starkly naked trees. Sunday Times If you haven't discovered the brilliant wit and inventiveness of award- winning Emily Gravett yet, then this superbly illustrated rhyming adventure is a great place to start.
