Those readers experiencing the Gabriel Series for the first time with Gabriel’s Promise, it is essential to go back to the beginning and start with Gabriel’s Inferno – for the couple have come a long way since their days of student/teacher liaisons. For me, reading a new volume from the Gabriel'sInferno series is like participating in a family reunion and seeing dear people I haven't seen in a long time. There were just too many unresolved issues, and with the ending, I'm still not clear all the open story lines came to a conclusion. The series is beautifully written in a poetic way that tethers masterfully the lives of their characters in a profound way, along with aspects of art, literature, and personal growth, intimacy, sensuality, and a depth of love that is so powerful that it can be felt in your soul.

But with a number of loose ends left at the end of Gabriel's Promise, fans can expect to see more of Gabriel and Julianne.Obviously, there is a lot of Dante talk, they are academics after all and Dante Is their shared passion (well, maybe not their only shared passion). Would love to see Gabriel’s promise in a movie and also another installment after Gabriel’s promise. But rather than squee with excitement when I heard a fourth book was planned, I was more reserved—too much of a good thing and all that. He grows and changes so much in this book and yet they devilish, intense Professor is still very much there. Enamored with this couple from their first enchanted night spent under the stars in the apple orchard, through all the trials and tribulations they endured, they have become some of my most cherished storybook characters.

We get to know Clare, their newborn daughter and watch as their relationship changes from new married to new parents. Gabriel has vowed to be a good father when he suddenly receives an invitation to give a series of lectures in Edinburgh, Scotland--an opportunity of high prestige-but that would mean leaving his wife and child in Boston.

And while the main focus of this book is how to overcome the obstacle of pursuing their careers and maintaining their family life, there is another plot that will likely be played out over the course of the next book (and more? Then as their story continues Julia is struggling to balance finishing her studies with challenges of being mother of a newborn. We are back with our Professor and his lovely Julianne, their growing family and the intriguing world of Dante and his Beatrice.
