About this deal

A handsome way to record and reflect, this five-year diary will make an excellent gift for graduates, adventurers, dreamers, and anyone embarking on a new phase of life.

This special way of maintaining a diary allows an interesting reference work on your past to emerge over time.

The lessons I'd learn as a result opened my eyes not only to how I can best approach journaling as a regular ritual, but how I can better set goals, reflect, and plan for the future. Featuring the painterly brushstrokes of the beloved stationer Moglea, this beautifully colourful daily journal was created to help you record and remember something in particular about every day. Jot down ideas or highlights one page for every day and compare your entries to the same date in years past in this notebook. Not so much space that’s it’s overwhelming to fill in each day -just a brief few sentences that you can look back on and reminisce - wish I’d found this sooner!

That means that every day I can look back at what I was doing the year before, and eventually, four years before. I have been keeping a ‘one line a day’ journal for more than three years now, and it has become a lovely, simple evening ritual. You can change your choices at any time by visiting Cookie preferences, as described in the Cookie notice. Think of something you have achieved, whether it’s a big goal or milestone, getting through your to-do list or cooking a new recipe – or even just getting through the day.

Sharing entries with my friends and family allowed me to hear their perspectives of the memories I’d preserved, which often included family and community events. Keep in mind that anyone can view public collections - they may also appear in recommendations and other places. During these periods, often taking place in winter months, my entries would read, “Today, I went to work,” or “Today, I read a new book” over and over again.

But when I started to review entries in the following months, I realized that I didn’t even usually remember the “bad days” that had taken up space in my journal.

I’ve since realized that, when you can, it’s important to carve out space and time for those activities, if for no other reason than that they’ll bring you joy. And looking back, I now know that this all started with the simple habit of writing something—again, even just a single line—each day, which is a meaningful lesson in taking small, actionable steps to achieve a goal. I think this would make a great gift for newly weds to capture a line a day for the first 5 years of marriage.

The small moments that make life special, and the challenging moments that help us grow are both enjoyable to reflect on and fulfilling to see progress with time. Even when I think I have nothing to say, it feels constructive to sit for a few minutes and wrap up the day by reflecting on it, however briefly.I have also stapled keepsakes and other bits and pieces along the way into the book such as tickets, badges, receipts, photos etc and this has bulked out this tiny diary massively but it’s still going strong nearly 5 years later. Because many of my entries happened during the pandemic lockdown period or the months following (when it was still difficult to go out and live life), I found a common theme upon reflection: I, like so many others, really missed the activities in life that I’d long taken for granted, like going to art exhibits, concerts, and shows; taking trips; and hanging out with friends.
