About this deal

Jason Fox served with the SBS for over a decade, thriving on the close bonds of the Special Forces brotherhood and the ‘death or glory’ nature of their missions.

In 2017, Foxy co-authored a book SAS: Who Dares Wins: Leadership Secrets from the Special Forces [7], with his fellow TV presenters and Special Forces soldiers Anthony Middleton, Matthew "Ollie" Ollerton and Colin Maclachlan. The most important book you’ll ever read… Battle Scars will save lives.' TOM MARCUS, author of SOLDIER SPY When Fox talks about his stories about life in the warzones, you do not feel disconnected from the overall principle of this book & it’s messages of how we can all change! Instead, the addition of personal stories - that are then represented in other life situations we may be more familiar with - you are taken more deeply into this book. Jason Fox delivers expertly a contrast of his own gripping stories & making them relatable to us readers unfamiliar with the thrill-seeking & dangerous scenarios this man has been in. After more than two decades of active duty, Foxy was diagnosed with complex PTSD, forcing him to leave the military brotherhood and confront the hard reality of what follows. What happens when you become your own enemy? How do you keep on fighting when life itself no longer feels worth fighting for? Get all the biggest showbiz news straight to your inbox. He adds with a smile: “That is always good fun.” Foxy is the first to admit he still can’t believe how much his life has changed since SAS started six years ago and became a household name. He says: “I didn’t know what I was looking for [after the Army]but this is all really nice. I want to keep things real and do things that people enjoy. I am loving it.”

Having said that, Mr. Fox also seems to be a terrible father/partner. He goes through relationships in a manner that at least seems as hectic as his life in the SBS, first one partner and then another and then another. He has a daughter with his wife, the daughter has medical problems, but that is all we ever hear about her. Is he involved in her life? Does he carry out his fatherly duties as he wrestles with PTSD? Does he have any relationship at all with her? The reader will not know after they read this book. He has a second daughter with another partner and that is the last you hear of that daughter. For all I know, Mr. Fox may be the world's greatest father, but from reading this book, his daughters come across as an afterthought. Fox is one of the original presenters and directing staff on SAS: Who Dares Wins, a reality television programme where contestants experience a gruelling training course loosely based on a condensed version of the special forces selection process. Fox stars alongside former special forces soldiers Ant Middleton, Matthew ‘Ollie’ Ollerton, Mark ‘Billy’ Billington, and Jay Morton. The programme first broadcast in 2015 is produced by Channel 4, and aired its fifth season in February 2020. In 2019 the first season of Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins aired which also stars Fox. Celebrities are set three difficult challenges each over the course of a 48-hour trip together in Snowdonia. Speaking of his fears during the jump, Foxy says: “Everyone thinks because of the job I do on SAS that I am immune to the extreme sh**. But I do get anxious. In 2017, Fox co-authored the book SAS: Who Dares Wins: Leadership Secrets from the Special Forces, [6] with his fellow TV presenters and Special Forces soldiers Anthony Middleton, Matthew "Ollie" Ollerton and Colin Maclachlan. The book triggered an investigation by the British Ministry of Defence for alleged admissions of war crimes by the authors. [7]The ground-breaking new book from former Special Boat Services Sergeant Jason Fox, star of Channel 4's SAS Who Dares Wins and number one bestselling author of Battle Scars. To admit all this and honestly lay out his struggles to overcome the PTSD takes great courage on Mr. Fox's part and he lays it all out honestly and bluntly. It's cool to see him, with the help of a shrink, overcome his PTSD and then go on to success on television and even set a record with some buddies, rowing across the Atlantic. Mr. Fox really is an extraordinary man. Unflinchingly honest, Battle Scars is a breathtaking account of Special Forces soldiering: a chronicle of operational bravery, and of superhuman courage on and off the battlefield. Battle Scars tells the story of his career as an elite operator, from the gunfights, hostage rescues, daring escapes and heroic endeavours that defined his service, to a battle of a very different kind: the psychological devastation of combat that ultimately forced him to leave the military, and the hard reality of what takes place in the mind of a man once a career of imagined invincibility has come to an end.

Adeleke was born into riches in Nigeria, but following the death of his father and the unjust seizing of his family’s wealth by the Nigerian Government, Remi and his family relocated to Bronx, New York in 1987. After years of making “regrettable decisions”, he joined the Navy in 2002 and later joined the Navy SEALs. Although, Adeleke nearly didn’t make it to the military. “I had two warrants out for my arrest – but the recruiter who was also from the Bronx, took a chance on me”, he explains. It took him two attempts to pass his SEAL training, almost dying during his first Hell Week. The pair take part in the bungee jump for Channel 4’s new star-studded adventure series, Foxy’s Fearless 48 Hours with… on Sunday.
