M J ARLIDGE LIAR LIAR BOOK YES The 4th DI Helen Grace book. A series of fires and deaths lead The police to a disabled boy Ethan Harris and his girlfriend Naomie who made the fires and end up committing suicide at the same time but in different places. Great book, hopefully there will be another. Simon silently stalks Jess all her life but Cara his daughter wants to get revenge for her mother as she knows that Simon has only ever loved Jessica. A confrontation at the end means that Cara accidentally stabs her own father instead of Jess but Simon then stabs himself to make it look like suicide. GREAT THRILLER. 1ST OF HER BOOKS I READ MADE ME WANT TO READ OTHERS 10/2/18-13/2/18 Grieving, emotionally tattered and now almost full term, Helen conducts her own investigation into Paul’s bizarre death. An investigation which leads her not only to a menacing Manchester crime boss, but to the drug-running gangs of a nearby sink estate.

LYNDA LA PLANTE SLEEPING CRUELTY BOOK YES SIR William Benedict funds the political career of Andrew Maynard who is found dead. Scandal erupts around him With the help of Justin & Laura Chalmers they plan revenge but all is not as it seems on William's island paradise. HAD GREAT PROMISE BUT WAS A BIT DISAPPOINTED. 13/3/17-21/3/17 Billingham currently hosts UKTV's crime podcast A Stab in the Dark. [21] Each episode includes a discussion on a particular theme from crime fiction and crime drama, and has featured guests including David Morrissey, Val McDermid, Michael Connelly and Ann Cleeves. When you leave the military, he says, no one sits you down and says: “This is what will happen; this is what you need to do.” Seriously, if you’re in the area, visit the fruit market on a Saturday. You can get some delicious and cheap produce.)Another sweltering month in Charlotte, another boatload of mysteries past and present for overworked, overstressed forensic anthropologist Temperance Brennan.

That's not to say that this book isn't a thriller at the same time. The investigation has a pace of it's own, which is enhanced by the knowledge that as Helen's baby is due very soon, her deadline is immovable. Interspersed with Helen's search for the truth there are other stories, other people involved that night. The impact of gangs and crime is an angle which is explored, but interestingly not completely demonised. After graduating with a degree in drama from the Department of Drama and Theatre Arts, he helped form a socialist theatre company, Bread & Circuses, in Birmingham. Bread & Circuses toured with shows in schools, colleges, arts centres and the street. [3] In the mid-1980s he moved to London as a "jobbing actor", taking minor roles in episodes of TV shows Dempsey and Makepeace, Juliet Bravo, Boon, and The Bill. [2] [4] After playing a variety of "bad guy roles such as a soccer hooligan, drug addict, a nasty copper, a racist copper or a bent copper", he claimed that he had become disenchanted with acting and that the emphasis was not on talent, but on looks. [3] If somebody could explain to me what I did with my common-sense I'd be very grateful. I have this list of favourite authors, and a tendency to hoard their books. Makes no sense whatsoever when I think about it, but IN THE DARK got caught in the daftness and lurked on the shelves here for much much longer than it should have. While an investigation into a murdered teenager might not exactly be cause for celebration – on the surface of things – Weeks should be happy. She’s got a devoted partner, DI Paul Hopkins, and she’s expecting a baby. But the trauma she suffered as a child in the town she’s had to revisit keeps reopening wounds which refuse to heal. Her memories seem to feed an impulsiveness which might just have led to her infidelity in the first place. And now there’s a question mark over who the father of her unborn child is – something which looks like it will tear Helen and Paul apart.Billingham’s series sort-of-hero, DI Tom Thorne ( Buried, 2007, etc.), has to settle for a supporting role, practically a walk-on, in this tangled tale of what happens after an aspiring gang member shoots into a car in London. His standalone novel In The Dark was adapted as a miniseries of the same name by the BBC in 2017. An adaptation of another standalone novel, Rush of Blood, is being developed for US television.
