The costume consisted of mid-calf length brown top with a fitted bodice and flared sleeves and fitted harem pants. The top was cinched at the waist by a belt made of the same material as the top. On top of that there is a sleeveless silk cloak with subtle embroidery and quilted detail at the shoulders. It has a more sophisticated and elegant design compared to her previous outfits, reflecting Leia’s role as a leader within the Rebel Alliance. Medical frigate Gown
Step 6: Spray paint the poncho in a camouflage pattern. I used the brightest green to cover the majority of the poncho with accents of brown and other greens. Let the poncho dry for at least 24 hours. top stitched line down the entire front left and front right side of the vest ending at the waist band. The stitching is approximately 1″ / 2.5 cm from the front edge of the vest.Step 2: Cover the entire foam piece with felt. Create detail on BB-9E’s dome with craft felt and attach using hot glue. Step 3: Sew the gold lining to the blue fabric at the top and sides of the cape. Leave the bottom of the cape and lining open. Step 1: Cut off the top portion of the half foam ball to make a flat surface instead of a rounded one.
Step 6: Cut holes on the top and bottom of the ball droid. For the top, measure the width around your child’s chest and cut a hole slighter larger than that measurement. For the bottom, the hole should be wide enough so your child has enough leg room to walk. I mean look at how well my Tunic blends in. Those pesky Storm Troopers will never be able to find me. And if they do I know a cute Ewok who would be more than happy to help me out. Now making making a poncho, that shouldn't be too hard, but of course as always with costuming there are some hidden complications. This step is much easier said than done, and was by far the hardest part of this DIY No Sew Easy Princess Leia costume. I admit I literally sweated a bit during this stage, until I realized that no one was going to see a slightly crooked or rumpled seam. There are more than one reasons why I love Princess Leia. For one, she is not afraid to speak her mind. For a person who has oscillated between wanting to speak her mind and not daring to, due to many many reasons, I envy the decisiveness of Princess Leia. Ah, what it is to be as strong a woman as her !
The costume has since become very controversial. Many consider it as a representation of the objectification of women in popular culture. Some others consider the outfit as a symbol of Leia’s strength and defiance in the face of adversity. We were loosing light fast with all our Saturday events going on. I was able to talk my hubby Grady from This Mormon Life to snap these pictures for me. He likes to remind me he is a collegiate photographer. But he is keeping status amateur so he can still compete in the photography Olympics. I am really excited to shoot our family pictures!!!

This is not a “hot Princess Leia” costume. This is a “comfortable Princess Leia” costume. It does not need to be form-fitting. I loved being Endor Leia, especially when you have the cutest little ewok. In case you have missed our family Halloween theme for our costumes this year we are doing Return of the Jedi . My boys were really excited and wondered if I was going to be Leia when she visits Jabba the Hut. As in Slave Leia. Not really my style. I told them I was going to be Endor Leia. I have already been the traditional Leia and I wanted to switch it up. The Slave Leia/Metal Bikini costume consists of a gold brass bikini top, a brief bottom, and various accessories. Leia’s hair is styled in intricate braids, and she wears a collar and chains as part of her enslavement by the villainous Jabba the Hutt. This costume is often referenced and recognized as a significant part of Leia’s character arc in “Return of the Jedi”. It has become a symbol of her role as a strong and resilient leader within the Rebel Alliance.
