About this deal

These spring blossoms becomes gently honeyed roughly 2 hours in, before merging together into an iris/laundry white musk in the next 9 hours of long dry down. The laundry-like white musk doesn't smell aggressively sharp, thankfully. Instead, it's rather smooth and fluffy, which reminds me of the diaphanous LM Parfums Chemise Blanche. There's occasionally some metallic/citrus-y aldehyde dancing around the edges, which also makes me think of Byredo Blanche, although Lady Blanche is much less muddy and more translucent. I’ve kinda been tempted by Morillas’ own line because from memory and although in his ‘style’ I found some of them to be just fantastic. However, this is always my worry that they won’t deliver on the full perfume experience and leave me wanting, like this one does. But slowly the sun went down and you went home again. Once there, the stove was loaded with wood and a warming fire was lit. It just offers me nothing I can write to you about, that will make it stand out in front of others with something. I wasn't excited at the opening or first 2 hours, but now that I've had a full day wear out of it - I can say it's pretty linear & boring.

Hm, wasn't that exactly what I actually wanted? A perfume with which one could identify me without problems? Something that stays true to my line, but still seems special? In a sense, a metamorphosis of my old familiar sweet favorites, only in niche? Yes, it was and is. The fictional storyline of the frivolous Mr. Sam on top of that an absolute win for my dimples. I just can't lie to myself, whether I dislike it or not. In the niche world, it's just there, sitting like a Calvin Klein bottle sitting at TJ Maxx. Nobody wants it, until it's at a heavy discount price. So now I am comparing them side by side, Mr. Sam actually is much stronger in the opening, so strong that you can’t smell Papilefiko anymore. This one is playing mind games with me, while I was comparing Papilefiko to Tero, they had something similar in the scent profile. If you know and like the spicy character of Halfeti, with its notes - then Mr. Sam is the same, and if you do not know them, I can tell you that they start very strong with cardamom and almost cake like cinnamon, followed by a peppery feel and then they follow into a goodness of sandalwood with aromatic notes. Just a moment ago we took a leisurely walk and watched the leaves fall. The ground was dry and the air filled with spices. Must have been a city park and somewhere on the corner someone was apparently selling waffles and spicy tea.

The opening conveys the pleasant citrus fruits, it’s got sharp citrus, ya limes, yer bergamots, but quite muted allowing for a nice translucent veil you can see the rest of the fragrance through, as it were. I get a slight facet of like grapes or pear or something, but immediately levied against dry GnT Sparkle, which continues the dehydrated theme into vetiver territory. Then it goes off the reservation for me, souring down on skin to a dry boring, papery, base which to me is predominantly Iso E Super or Timbersilk. Sure I’ll give you that there’s ambroxan and sandalwood molecules too if you insist but it mainly smells of arid, bready, 🥖 wood, with only shades of the top and heart left after a relatively short period. Does he have to? Definitely not. Sometimes less is more, and that's what has been perfectly erased in this case. At a business appointment to radiate Confidence and to bring the last persuasive power with you. Or at a wedding to become the compliment magnet of the evening According to the marketing blurb, Lord George is supposed to be a tragic figure, Blanche a dangerous woman seeking revenge. I do not see George as Agamemnon nor Blanche as Clytemnestra. If Penhaligons had sold the Lord George perfume as Blanche's revenge (a dish served ice cold) and this flowery bouquet as George's secret tragedy it would be much more apt and far more intriguing. As it is, they made the obvious unimaginative choice and are thus promoting something not just boring but politically suspect. What's that you say? A bunch of flowers, or a perfume pretending to be a bunch of flowers, or a perfume pretending to be a 1970s soap pretending to be a Victorian bunch of flowers, is not political and has no relationship to a dangerous nostalgic-nationalism? Blanche is innocent!, you protest. Are you sure about that? And, yup, perfume can be political and so can a vase of flowers. I love Penhaligon’s; beautiful pkging, iconic, historical etc. - sampled a ton , just wish I could afford all the ones on my list lol - their prices can get ridiculous & not sure the frags are groundbreaking - but great quality, approachable & beautiful none the less - like Blanche is similar to other frags but it doesn’t make Blanche any less stunning. It is a confident, ambitious beautiful woman who has her own career and life. She is not a dependent of men. The freshness is her in daytime, acting as a protective shield covering all her secrets and ambition underneath. On the other hand, the warmness resembles her dangerously beauty and deadly lust for money and power which are unknown to anyone. But this is exactly what makes her tempting and beguiling. The description that the portrait is of someone in the fast lane is as accurate as a fist in the eye. In other words, you should get dressed up for it rather than just being dressed up in loose clothes. This noble drop should be used in style!

Sweet, curcumin like dry, lavender is somewhere there, it grows so fast on me, I start to like it more and more. The Revenge of Lady Blanche is a well-blended fresh and warm scent. It is a rare composition and even rarer a good one among its counterparts. Mugler aura is also a blend of freshness and warmness but it is not as well-blended as this one though it is still a good perfume. Its freshness and warmness are kind of separate. What I mean is that you smell the freshness in one sniff and the warmness in another. However this one is not. The freshness and warmness come to your nose at the same time. I don't know how they do this but indeed it is a succeed.Penhaligon's is a British perfumery established in 1870 by William Penhaligon. Originating as a barbershop, Penhaligon's offered its first fragrance in 1872, Hammam Bouquet. The fragrance was inspired by the neighboring Turkish Bath and its sulfurous steam. The company's best-selling fragrance, 1902's Blenheim Bouquet, created at the request of the Duke of Marlborough at Blenheim Palace, broke with the prevailing floral trends of its day to enchant with zesty citrus, spices and woods. One sits comfortably together and enjoys the tender waffles and the company on this slightly rainy evening.

Touché! The inner voice has stood up to the utopian notions of the happiness center. And right she is, I am indeed not. I have drifted from searching for a fragrance that matches my still-changing personality to searching for one whose reputation I would like to match my personality to. An important realization for me, because I didn't want something like that. Self-image and foreign image should fit together, at least in this case, that was my goal. I just reviewed Lord George q.v. I said he was cold, dated, and generic. Now I am reviewing Lady Blanche and my thoughts boil down to she is flowery, dated, and generic. Not much to add to dated and generic which are self-explanatory, what about the flowers? You know that nice feeling which we have sometimes for a few minutes when something seems familiar to us but we do not know from where and what is it? As for the fragrance itself, there are no surprises as long as you've familiarized yourself with the fragrance pyramid. Is it special? Yep, a familiar to me in rudiments, spicy-sweet smell that has been refined and can be compared at least a little with V&R Spicebomb. It's particularly closely related to Penhaligon's Halfeti, but without the oud touch and rose, and a bit sweeter instead (more cinnamon?). In the base notes, the two eventually diverge further and tobacco joins in nicely, giving Mr. Sam a much more masculine face than Halfeti. Wearable for me in all situations, in all seasons. Probably more in cooler times, but that remains to be seen. I would associate Mr. Sam with younger gentlemen who can be elegant, but also like to let off steam, while remaining determined - just like his portrait. However, he also invites you to feel good and brings a certain boost to your self-confidence. Somehow also a small replacement for my Egoist by Chanel, which I like so much, but which is less suitable for everyday wear for me. Not too over-the-top like One Million or the Gaultiers, but also not as prudish as other representatives of the spicy genres. Kind of perfect, at least for me. Mr. Sam here is the twin brother of Halfeti, also created by Penhaligons under the crafted hand of Mr. Provenzano, I would not wonder if Mr. Sam is also his creation, even if the perfumer´s name is not present here nor on Fragrantica.Revenge opens with whispery white flowers, with a distinctive narcissus as a trumpet flower as if it is announcing the arrival of a grand lady. The narcissus in the top I found rather soapy but it is clean and refreshing. The white floral scent turns into a fresh English dewy hyacinth. The hyacinth gives this fragrance that Anglo character from Penhaligon. It is as floral as many of the other fragrances from the line but it's far more linear and simple, almost a solifore of iris. The iris takes over in the dry down turning the whole thing into a dusting powder. Fortunately for me the iris blends well with my skin and I welcome dusty powdery fragrances. According to my nose, this fragrance does not offer much change at the beginning, which will not happen in the next few hours This is how Mr. Sam started the acquaintance with me, leaving me confused for a few minutes .. but then, I realized that we met before, in another context - I will explain.
