Philips had been toying with the idea of a premium Vodka to rival the already popular Absolut Vodka brand and his search took him to Poland.

Sometimes known as Craft Vodkas, there are several brands that compete favorably with Belvedere, such as: Type Although Belvedere Vodka was not introduced to the U.S. until 1996, its production began in Poland three years earlier in 1993 — at one of the oldest Polish distilleries.
