About this deal

The first thing to note is that this isn’t a “true” bean-to-cup machine. Instead, it’s a a manual espresso machine with a built-in grinder. While it can grind fresh beans, you’ll need to tamp the ground coffee yourself. This also serves as an ECAM44.620.S review too – the difference is this Eletta Plus model doesn’t include the milk carafe so won’t make the lattes and cappuccinos out of the box. Featuring anautomatic cappucino system and milk carafe, you can create silky smooth lattes or a perfectly frothy cappucino, as well as high-quality espressos, caffelattes, Americanos and other milk-based coffee drinks at just the touch of a button. There's also a hot water spout attachment for tea or infusion. Use pre-ground coffee or grind your own beans to release the true flavour, with a choice of 13 grinding settings to ensure the perfect flavour. As you have probably guessed from a coffee machine called the Eletta Cappuccino, the automatic milk frothing part is where it is at. Again this part is fully automated and it will handle all of the milk texturing for you.

While all the models on this list can produce coffee from beans, the Oracle is truly automatic. It grinds, tamps and doses the coffee – and can also automatically texture the milk. Considering milk texture is one of the most difficult parts of making a high-quality cappuccino, this is a welcome feature. To summarise, if you’re a coffee enthusiast who wants fresh coffee without spending lots of time, bean-to-cup coffee machines are almost certainly the best choice (that’s why they are sometimes called a fresh coffee maker). For making the occasional espresso a pod machine could be a good option, while for complete control you might want a pump machine. Coffee Customisation Settings Make sure you buy high-quality fresh coffee beans. Any bean-to-cup coffee machine is limited by the quality of the beans you use - there's no point paying hundreds of pounds for a great machine only to waste it on poor-quality beans! This is a question that tends to come from people who’ve previously owned a bean to cup machine. The answer is just under two litres, so plenty to make several cups before it needs to be refilled. But there’s more to this machine than that. You get a great crema on top of your espressos – creamy and rich-tasting, plus beautiful to look at. Then there’s the milk – for a fully automated machine you get a pleasing amount of control over your milk and it really does a great job at creating light microfoam – as good as any machine that I’ve tried.I am delighted to tell you, therefore, that this machine produces some truly wonderful coffee. As with any machine with an integrated grinder, it has a head start – grinding the beans directly before making the coffee will always give you great results as you are using the freshest possible coffee, and that really does make a noticeable difference. The milk frother is also a great source of fun and customisation. The dial on the carafe lets you alter how frothy the milk is – ranging from just heating the milk with no froth (perfect for a flat white) to a really airy froth which is ideal for a cappuccino. Other customisation features can include brewing temperature, coffee strength, automatic milk frothing, cup size and water amount. Some models also come with pre-infusion which helps protect against inconsistencies in tamp and grind (see the video below for a simple explanation). Grinding coffee beans is almost impossible to do quietly. While some grinders are quieter than others, you probably don’t want to be using the coffee machine (at least when using fresh beans) at times when you could wake people up. This is especially important if you live in a flat or small home and enjoy a late-night cup of coffee. Like most bean-to-cup coffee machines, theECAM22.110.B can be used with either ground coffee or fresh beans. This is a useful option if you enjoy the occasional cup of decaf or just want to try some new blends. The bean container also comes with a cap for saving the aroma. Overview of Features

Quite possibly the best feature of this particular machine is that it gives you the option to create a completely personalized espresso drink. From simple Americanos to more complicated drinks, the precision setting knobs and preset mix ratios make it easy to make any cafe beverage that you could ever think of. There are also various customisation options. These include settings for size, strength, and temperature. It also has an automatic milk cleaning system, 15 bar pump, ground coffee option and a removable drip tray. Water Hardness – You can configure the Delonghi Eletta for your local water hardness, this is great for ensuring longevity

The Delonghi Eletta ECAM44.660.B produces excellent espresso from beans. It has the smooth texture and full aroma that indicate a really good coffee. Other Coffee Taste There are two auto-programmes for cleaning: decalcification and rinsing. The automatic rinsing routine rinses both the coffee dispensers and the hot water spout. The decalcification program helps to remove limescale, which is especially important for areas with hard water.

You might think that because this machine hasn’t ranked as highly in our top ten table as it’s sister model the Magnifica, that it somehow falls short in performance, but that’s not true at all. While the Eletta ECAM44.660.B doesn’t have the classy appeal of a stainless steel coffee machine, it’s still an attractive model that will look great in any kitchen. It’s simple to use, with its one touch buttons and LCD screen, and all the components are intuitively placed. De’Longhi excels in providing a true bean to cup brewing experience. All you need to do is select your favourite roasted coffee beans and place them in the hopper. The hopper is airtight and will keep your coffee fresh and flavorful as long as the lid remains closed. TheECAM22.110.B is an attractive model with the Italian-style design many people enjoy. It comes with many of the same features as more expensive Delonghi coffee machines, yet is firmly a mid-range model, making it an attractive option to people who want great espresso and cappuccino but can't afford the pricier options. When reviewing a machine with an automated milk frother, you have to bear in mind, that they will never be able to produce a textured milk as good as a barista. Maybe in the future, but certainly not now.

As we mentioned at the start of this review, the Delonghi Eletta ECAM44.660.B certainly isn’t a cheap bean-to-cup coffee machine (although it’s far from the priciest either). Despite this, we think it provides outstanding value for money if you enjoy cappuccino or latte. The automatic milk frother makes producing high-quality cappuccino far easier than manual frothers, and the customisation options are extensive. Protect - Repair covers accidental damage from day one and breakdown after the manufacturer’s warranty ends.Beans are loaded into the top of the machine. Ground coffee can also be used by adding it to a small separate compartment – just make sure you select the “ground coffee” option before starting the machine. VARIETY OF COFFEE CHOICES: Enjoy a wide variety of espresso based drinks at the touch of a button: Espresso, Ristretto and Long Coffee; easily customize aroma level and Coffee length according to... For the freshest coffee I would highly recommend you use fresh beans where possible, but if for some reason you can’t, then you can also use pre ground coffee in the Eletta Cappuccino. The only manual input from the user is putting the beans in the top, and the cup under the dispenser. Most importantly, we found that the Beko produces appetising espresso with a strong taste, decent crema, and lovely aroma (just make sure you use high-quality beans!) In fact, we think it’s one of the best espresso coffee machines in its price range. On the medium grind mode, you get a balanced coffee with uniform colour, but there’s also the option of going finer for a more intense espresso. So, there’s something for all coffee enthusiasts.
