About this deal

It's too bad that she doesn't finish the story with more bite, as Papa Bear is clearly more than a match for the silly little milkmaid.

Response to Two Professional Reviews: Both reviewers agree that the author did a very nice job retelling this story. In addition, the language that Jan Brett uses makes for a fun read aloud that engages the reader through interesting phrases and patterned reading.Discovery**: They find the eaten porridge, the wrecked seat, and lastly Goldilocks snoozing Child Bear's bed. With over thirty three million books in print, Jan Brett is one of the nation's foremost author illustrators of children's books. I was delighted and enchanted to read the different versions of the traditional Goldilocks and the Three Bears in the Special Edition Novel of Goldilocks. They remind me very much of older books from childhood, and I think younger kids will love them too.

And yet, pretty much every detail of the above summary is a later addition to the original story, which was very different. Goldilocks had begged to be allowed to read mommyporn, but her mother, a rather strict woman, insisted that she would have to wait until she was ten. This book follows the typical story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears; however, I did not enjoy the unique spin to the end. Readers are often relieved to discover that Goldilocks makes a quick escape out of the window, running back into the forest, saving her from what could have otherwise been a devastating conclusion.

Mind you, the insurance company would doubtless throw out any claim made by the bears for their broken chair: after all, they left their property unlocked. That’s when the bear family came back and noticed that their porridge was messed and eaten with, and their chairs sat on, and their bed sheets messed with. I have always been interested in the origin of fairy tales ever since being given some fabulous complete works as a young girl. Another application I was thinking of, is with the use of clay, have my students mold the characters and retell the story in their own way. There are a lot of very serious books on the list for this challenge, but it’s not often that a funny book gets recognition.
