Overall all the stories were great and added more depth to the world that has been established in the original novels. The a-Kira Story (aキラ編, a-Kira-hen), a Death Note one-shot sequel chapter, was released on February 4, 2020, in the March edition of Jump Square magazine. There are also plenty of cameos from fan-favorite characters such as Near, and depictions of how Light Yagami changed the world. The manga ended in 2006, and the anime in 2007, but many Death Note-related media have been created since the original story’s end, from the various live action Japanese films, that one Netflix movie, a J-drama, a musical and of course, various one-off manga by the original creators. Starting at the beginning with the "C-Kira" story, which is supposed to take place three years after the last volume of the original Death Note manga takes place, it follows Near and a new "Kira" that Near would then label "C-Kira".

There are numerous rules such as ‘heart attack’ being the default cause of death unless one is specified, and if you give up the book you also lose your memories of said book, etc.If you haven’t picked up a manga related to Death Note since its last volume, then this is a lovely book with great stories to re-introduce yourself into this unique world. It takes place two years after the original manga’s ending and there’s a new ‘Kira’ on the loose but this time, focusing on their attention on killing off 60+ year olds. This chapter is short, and overall, probably the least exciting (drama-wise) but there’s still some information to chew on within this book. However, the world is different from when Light had the Death Note, and the tricks he used wouldn't work for Minoru. The main character, Minoru Tanaka, also known as "a-Kira", refuses to take advantage of the Death Note's killing abilities, instead pulling a media stunt and sell the supernatural notebook to the highest bidder. The collection tells the tales of those whose lives were greatly impacted by Kira and the Death Note's shake-up of the world. The chapter is a continuation of the original Death Note manga series, which ended in 2006 and last had a one-shot chapter in 2008.That’s the other part of Death Note Short Stories that I like – seeing how the world has processed the existence of the notebook. Ryuk then reminds her she has something else to give him, to which she throws him an apple from the human world, remarking how she remembered.
